"The Christmas Song" is a classic holiday song written in 1944 by Mel Tormé (aka The Velvet Fog) and Bob Wells. The song was written during a blistering hot summer in an effort to "stay cool by thinking cool". The Nat "King" Cole Trio first recorded the song early in 1946 and it's then been covered by almost everyone from Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra to Christina Aguilera, *NSYNC and The Raveonettes.
