Greece
Explanation
Feta is the name of a white Greek cheese made from sheep milk. Sometimes the sheep's milk is swapped for goat's milk. Feta has a semi-solid to solid consistency and a mild to sharp salty taste. It is often used in salads, and in Greece often eaten with oil and a tomato salad. Feta is known from antiquity, and is mentioned several times in Homer's 'Odyssey'. The name Feta has its origins in the Italian word 'Offa' which in diminutive is called 'ofetta'. Greece demanded exclusive rights to the name at the Court of Justice of the European Union and got it.
