Tacioception is what is commonly known as the sense of touch. There are neural receptors all over the skin. These receptors respond to touch, pain and temperature. There are different kinds of receptors, reacting to different stimuli. For instance, free nerve-endings from A8 fibres register 'fast', 'stinging' pain whereas nerve endings from the slower C fibres register a 'burning' pain.
