Cambodia is a kingdom in Southeast Asia. It is located between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The capital is called Phnom Penh. The capital has 14 million inhabitants and covers an area of 181,040 km².Cambodia gained independence from France in 1953 and the country's history is full of conflicts, within and outside the country. Today the country continues to be marked by the civil war of the 1970s when Pol Pot came to power and killed almost one fourth of the population.
