The Federative Republic of Brazil is the largest and most populous country in South America. Around 200 million people live in the country which covers an area of 8,547,404 km². Brazil, which is named after the local brazilwood, is rich on natural resources. A lot of the country is farming country, and there are enormous rain forests. The capital is called Brasilia and the biggest cities São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Brazil was a Portuguese colony from the 15th century until 1822.
