New Zealand is a state located in the Pacific Ocean. The country has around 4.3 million inhabitants and an area of 268,680 km². The capital is called Wellington, and the largest city Auckland. Settlers from Polynesia arrived to New Zealand around 1280 and established the Maori culture. Most New Zealanders's ancestors come from Britain, however. The country is named after the Dutch province Zeeland.
