How long does a normal pregnancy last?

Explanation

One scientific term for the state of pregnancy is gravidity (adjective "gravid"), Latin for “heavy”. A pregnant female is sometimes also referred to as a gravida. A normal pregnancy lasts 280 days, counted from the first day of the last menstruation. Variations are very common, however. Normally, a pregnancy is split into three trimesters: weeks 1-12, 13-28 and the rest.
