The novel 'Lord of the Rings' was written by now deceased J.R.R. Tolkien who was inspired by his experiences during World War 1. He also wanted to give his home country, England, a mythology, as the country has never really had one before. The three films that make up the trilogy was directed by Peter Jackson who is from New Zealand, where the films were also filmed. In 2012, the first of two films based upon the book 'The Hobbit' will be released. In this book, the story of how Bilbo Baggins finds the ring is told.
