'Goodfellas' from 1990 is based on the book 'Wise Guys' by Nicholas Pileggi, but the title was changed, because a film had been released only a few years earlier bearing that title. Who instructed the film?

Explanation

Brian De Palma was born in New Jersey in 1940. He has directed many successful films in his career, including 'Carrie' from 1976. On his CV, he also has ' Scarface', 'The Untouchables' and 'Mission Impossible'. De Palma is known for his long sequences, which, in combination with the lack of wide lenses and zooms, gives his audience a sense of being right there, in the middle of the scene. De Palma is also a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and directed his video for the song 'Dancing in the Dark'.
