Anakin Skywalker was born without a father and was thought to be The Chosen One who would bring balance to The Force. Anakin first trained as a Jedi under Qui-Gon Jinn and later under Obi-Wan Kenobi. He secretly married Padmé Amidala, who bore the twins Luke and Leia. Anakin joined the Dark Side, which renamed him 'Darth Vader'. His transformation was completed after a duel with Obi-Wan in which he lost several limbs and nearly fell into a lava flow. He was subsequently fitted with mechanical limbs and artificial organs.
