Diabetes mellitus, often simply referred to as diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar. There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 which occurs in both children and adults and Type 2, which is also called adult-onset diabetes.There is also a special kind of gestational diabetes that occurs during pregnancy.
